One of the biggest themes you will find with the Bowmen is the concept of FAMILY. We are all in this together and operate towards a common goal day in and day out.

  • We believe if we play hard, play smart and play together, we will be successful on and off the court as a cohesive unit.

  • We believe players can only control three things: their attitude (coachability falls under this category) and their effort and how hard they compete. We emphasize this on a daily basis on and off the court.

  • We believe we need to take on the mentality of the hunter. We will be the aggressor. We want to be the most enthusiastic team in the state. We can control that, no matter who is on the team.

  • We believe in defensive pressure covering the entire court.

  • We believe that any player can become a good team defender. All of our players will take pride in our defense.

  • We believe in utilizing several types of defenses on all levels of the court to create tempo change.

  • We believe that to comprehend and excel in zone defenses, all players must first master man-to-man principles.

  • We believe the best drills to practice every day emphasize fundamentals and incorporate many different skills simultaneously.

  • We believe that the team should be prepared for all different types of situations that occur in games. We should not have to call a timeout to adjust to what the other team is doing; our players should be prepared. All game situations should be an integral part of the practice regiment.

  • We believe in pushing the basketball down the floor as quickly as possible in an organized transition offense. All while staying under control.

  • We believe in utilizing on-ball screens in a continuous offense.

  • We believe the Michael Jordan quote, “The defense is always wrong.” and I believe it is essential to instill that mindset into our players when we are on the offensive end.

  • We believe in exploiting mis-matches on the offensive end as much as possible.

  • We believe that you must teach players to make the right reads on the basketball court, not trust they will “figure it out” on their own.

  • We believe that the key to all our successful offensive and defensive schemes is attention to detail. We must do the little things correct, because in reality, the little things are BIG THINGS.

  • We believe good is the enemy of great. If we accept being good, we will never be great.
